Deep furrows on the forehead, frown lines over the eyes, drooping eyebrows and hood-like skin over the eyes are all conditions that can make you look older than you are – or feel. Whether age or heredity causes these conditions, a forehead lift (or brow lift) can give you a more youthful, animated and alert appearance.

Forehead lifts are usually performed under local anesthesia, supplemented by a mild sedative to keep you relaxed, yet awake. The doctors at Panhandle Plastic Surgery, PA will make an incision across the top of the head, just above the hairline. Limited smaller incisions can be used. Excess skin, fat and portions of the muscle are then removed through the incision, which is then closed with clips or sutures. Forehead and brow lifts may be performed alone, or along with other procedures such as a facelift or eyelid surgery.

Most patients are on their feet in a couple of days, and back to work within two weeks.

Strenuous exertion, which increases your blood pressure, should be avoided for about a month, along with prolonged exposure to heat or the sun.
